Ibrahim Yazici's busy and diverse conducting career reached new grounds when he recently conducted Deutsche Symphonie Orchester (DSO) at the Berlin Philharmonie , a prom concert at the Vienna Konzerthaus, Den Haag Het Residentie Orkest, and many other major concert halls. In April 2008 he brought the Turkish Presidential Symphony Orchestra to Moscow and he conducted at the International Music House. In December 2007 he has been appointed the General Music Director of The Izmir State Symphony where he stayed until 2012.
Born in Ankara in 1970 he has studied piano, composition and conducting at Ankara State Conservatory and received an MM degree. He continued his studies at 'Conservatoire National de Musique de Perpignan' and obtained three 'Premier Prix'. Beneath his education at those schools he also studied conducting with Gilbert Varga and has participated at masterclasses in various European countries.
His conducting career began at 1995 at Ankara State Opera and in a short time he conducted orchestras such as Luzern Symphony Orchestra, Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra, Camerata de France, Ensemble Resonanz Hamburg, the Presidential Symphony Orchestra and all major symphony orchestras in Turkey. With those orchestras he has played in prestigious concert halls such as Berlin Philarmonie, Vienna Konzerthaus, Essen Philarmonie, Moscow International Music House, Hamburg Musikhalle, Stuttgart Liederhalle, Palais des Beaux Arts Bruxelles, Berlin Konzerthaus, Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center, Seoul Art Center, etc. In 2000 he conducted 'Suor Angelica' and 'Gianni Schicchi' at Puccini Festival Valencia. He has also conducted at Europaischer Musik Sommer Berlin, CBS Korea, Bella Pais , Mersin and Istanbul International Music Festivals. Recently he conducted the first Germany execution of Fazil Say's 'Naz?m Oratorio' in Wuppertal with a triumphal performance.
He has recorded many Turkish composers' music including Saygun, Say, Sun, Erdener on CD and DVD.
In 2002 he received the 'Artistic Encouragement Award' of Hacettepe University , in 2005 he was honoured with the 'Cavalleria della Soliderita' order given by the Italian President and in 2012 he has recieved the 'Conductor of the year, Donizetti Prize'.
He gave classes at Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory and Bilkent University Music and Performing Arts Faculty. Between 1998-2007 he was the resident conductor of the State Polyphonic Choir . He toured around the world with the State Polyphonic Choir, conducted at various prestigious halls, received many awards, made several recordings and prepared a very extensive repertoire, capturing audiences from a large number of nationalities. He also performs regularly as chamber musician and as soloist in the concerts he conducts. At the moment he is conductor at Mersin State Opera and Ballet Company.
